77Jaywick Sands, two miles to the east of Clacton in Essex, was – along with Peacehaven near Brighton on the south coast – one of the ‘plotland’ developments of the inter-war period, which provoked a strongly negative reaction and gave impetus to the introduction of planning legislation.
