ABSTRACT

As explained in Chapter 3, the focus of this book is urban design on the cityregion/city and city district level. The aim is to illustrate the contribution strategic urban design can and should make to the improvement of the form and structure of today’s city. A generally valid micro-structure has been defined and a number of macro-structures have been compared. It is now important to illustrate their applicability in and validity for an existing urban area and the one chosen for this purpose is the city region of Glasgow.
