ABSTRACT

The lipoproteins vary in size, density, lipid composition and the apolipoproteins (the protein fractions), and they can be classified by either the flotation rate determined by ultracentrifugation or by their electrophoretic mobilities. In descending order of size, the broad lipoprotein fractions are: • Chylomicrons (or chylomicra)

The apolipoproteins are labelled alphabetically from A to E with additional subsets denoted by roman numerals, e.g. apolipoprotein A-II.
