ABSTRACT
A main characteristic of the models of technological spillovers from foreign MNEs, which have been described in the preceding chapter is the existence of a positive relationship between foreign presence and spillovers. This conclusion evidently contrasts with a large part of the most recent literature, emphasising that the foreign presence may lead to both virtuous and vicious circles of development according to a number of factors which affect the ability of indigenous firms to successfully imitate foreign technologies.
