ABSTRACT

On the social web, people expect to participate, engage, and interact using a variety of tools within an ecosystem. Unfortunately, many of these ecosystems are unprepared for this level of activity, leaving participants trapped in broken experiences. What can we, under the new banner of experience architecture, do to support participatory culture? How can we help empower people to participate? We need to make a purposeful turn toward working with our participants, engaging them, and respecting their need to engage.
