ABSTRACT

In the last chapter, you were asked to watch a videotaped one-minute dyadic interaction; to note down which embodied and disembodied modes the participants relied on; and to discern if and when the modes were hierarchically structured. Undoubtedly you would have realized just how difficult the assignment was, when you worked on it. Such an assignment is nearly impossible to complete without a fully fledged multimodal transcription system.
