Source of proverbs quoted

Many rural peoples encapsulate traditional wisdom in the form of proverbs. Pidgin-and creole-speaking communities are no exception. The proverbs quoted in this book come from West Africa and in particular from Cameroon and Sierra Leone, though the folk wisdom they express is to be found, in slightly modified form, in many of the Atlantic pidgin/creole-speaking regions and may well reflect original African proverbs and folk-beliefs.
