ABSTRACT
My research approach is based on strategies which include participatory action research and feminist standpoint theory, whilst also drawing on life history, literacy studies and ethnographic approaches to exploring social practices. I am politically driven in my initiation of this study and in the choices I make regarding research methods. To offer an overview of why I have chosen them it is worth presenting a brief discussion about wider approaches and how they sit in relation to claims of knowledge.
