ABSTRACT
As a company grows from a one-man business the proprietor is obliged to delegate part of his work to others. In the process he delegates some of his authority. Authority can be defined as the institutionalized right to make decisions and give orders on behalf of the organization. Under this definition the source of authority is the institutions of society, particularly the institution of private property.
