ABSTRACT

A variety of skills – such as notetaking, summarising, breaking work down into manageable steps, and question formation – are vital to students’ success at secondary school. Some students need relatively little assistance in these skill areas but LLD students need a lot of practice in using and developing these skills across all subject areas.A broader approach to teaching these skills in a variety of subjects, not just English, is needed by many students (including LLD students). Such an approach can significantly improve students’ comprehension and prepare them for more complex tasks.
