ABSTRACT
The present chapter aims to discuss the specific characteristics and problems of Middle Eastern development administration, as well as providing an overview of administrative structures in the 11 countries central to this study, viz. Algeria, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Oman, the Yemen Arab Republic and the PDRY. Before doing so, however, it seems useful to present a brief review of the elements which have acted as determinants.
