ABSTRACT

Whilst it is true that the cause of cancer is unknown, it is also true to say that a lot of information has been gathered on the cause of cancer and the question now remains ‘how does it all fit together?’ The most significant information so far accumulated is presented in this chapter. The root cause of cancer lies at the molecular genetic level, that much is clear, but the problem however is trying to understand how the changes needed for the cell to become malignant occur, and what exactly happens after that.
