ABSTRACT

This book sets out to advise learning support teachers who work with low-aged readers in secondary schools. But it will be a useful text to a wider audience of adults who work with the same group of pupils, such as: learning support assistants; parents who wish to support the improvement of their son's or daughter's reading at home;adults who work with pupils in lunchtime or after-school reading clubs; Special Needs Co-ordinators and local authority literacy consultants who train learning support staff to improve the reading of older pupils with low reading ages; secondary subject teachers who need to differentiate work in class for weak readers.
