ABSTRACT

This chapter summarizes the main points of this book. The book aims to integrate issues of competence and governance, and perspectives from different disciplines. In the introduction, in Chapter 1, it was claimed that this is done in a coherent fashion, without eclectic confusion. The first section of this chapter summarizes the theory used, and substantiates the claim of coherence. The second discusses the results of another attempt at integration, of dyadic alliances and networks. Subsequently, this chapter summarizes the results concerning goals, structure, governance and development of inter-organizational relationships (IORs). Finally, it gives some indications for further research.
