ABSTRACT

We asked some local teachers to write stories about their experiences of ‘The Toymaker's Workshop’ (Chapter 7) with their classes. Sue Gray is in her first year of teaching. She is an English specialist with a little experience of drama. She is not very confident about using teacher in role but is quickly becoming more confident the more she uses it! Her class of seventeen reception children includes seven with speech difficulties. Estelle Crasto is a thirdyear BAQTS student who is just about to undertake her final school experience. She had met her class only two days before she taught the drama session with them. Estelle is a maths specialist with only six hours of drama training within her core English sessions. She is, however, very keen to use drama in her teaching to inspire the children. Kate Ponté is also a final-year BAQTS student but she is an English specialist who has had some extra drama training on her specialism course. Jane Lymn is a second-year BAQTS English specialist on a school placement in a village primary school.
