ABSTRACT

I would like to explore how to introduce difference into the problem of the canon, allowing several discourses to co-exist, thickening the slim volume that Western white phallocentric logic inscribes within culture. We must get beyond competing heroisa-tions, using culture to fashion our ideal egos. We must grow up, renouncing the regressive pleasures of infantile investments in order to look at ourselves, through the inscriptions in culture of those non-mystic beings, artists, who are driven to give their desires form in ways that breach the (socially fabricated) personal to touch on common territories of fantasy and desire. 1
