ABSTRACT

This book is the result of a lifetime’s interest in politics, not so much party politics, although this has always been of interest to me, but more so political theory. Given the fact that, apart from two years of manual (and clerical) work, I have been in the education system since I was a child, my interest understandably has been in the interface between political theory and educational theory. Having had the fortune to travel, as part of my work, to most parts of the world (see below), this interest has always been an international one. My lifetime’s experiences have served to constantly reinforce my heartfelt belief that the world in which we live cannot be even remotely understood without reference to the capitalist system, and specifically the ongoing and relentless struggle between the two main social classes.
