ABSTRACT

Philosophical refl ection is decisively shaped by non-intentional and automatic reasoning-by inferences we are not aware of making. The problems, arguments and theories philosophers explicitly state, develop and debate are visible waves on seas whose waters are largely moved by deep currents of thought beyond our direct control, fl owing in depths into which we do not normally peer.
