ABSTRACT

Soul dualism is found in many parts of the world, including America, parts of Southern Asia, Old Europe, Africa and among a number of circumpolar tribes and nations. This dualism originates in the old hunting cultures which formerly covered enormous areas. But later, in Europe, the concept was overlaid by Christian monistic beliefs, although some vestiges of the idea live on in folklore. Nevertheless, it remains a central part of shamanism. 1 Only shamans are able to see souls.
