ABSTRACT

Although it is difficult to gauge the number of Råjacandra’s largely Gujarati followers today, most Jains would regard him as a great teacher. There are several flr⁄mad Råjacandra religious centres (å¬ram) throughout India and in East Africa, Britain and North America where Råjacandra is a devotional focus and there are signs that a lay guru lineage is evolving. Råjacandra’s emphasis upon selfexperience suggest that his teachings will continue to maintain their appeal and provide a transsectarian brand of Jainism which is not reliant on initiated ascetics.
