ABSTRACT
The traditional ways of sharing, asking and demanding have not been totally discarded but they have been much affected by money, alcohol, and by the political changes that have been imposed on the Mornington Islanders. Before examining them there are one or two points that I would like to make about hunter-gatherers and generosity.
