ABSTRACT
Generalized eigenvalue problems arise in connection with many problems in mechanics, theory of vibrations and stability, optimal control, mathematical and theoretical physics, hydrodynamics, acoustics, dynamics of atmosphere and ocean, elasticity, etc. Examples of such problems will be considered below. So far no regular method has been proposed for solving generalized SturmLiouville problems.
