ABSTRACT

Some quality of life factors have been identified as having an impact on where people choose to live. This has clearly been shown to be the case for leisure and recreational opportunities (Marans and Mohai, 1991). But what of other aspects of life relating to open spaces? Does the existence of open spaces in urban locations affect people’s choice of where to live? Does the existence of open spaces in urban areas have an impact on the value of properties in a location? Does the existence of open spaces in a location have any other impacts on the economy-such as on job creation, regeneration or tourism?
