ABSTRACT

Contemporary lesbian US poet who lives and writes in Connecticut and New York City. Her poetry has been widely anthologized. Many of her poems focus on lesbian experiences and relationships. Her autobiographical verse play Mourning Pictures resulted in her receiving a CAPS Grant from the New York State Council for the Arts in 1976. That play is included in the volume she edited the following year entitled The New Women’s Theatre: Ten Plays by Contemporary American Women (1977). In 1976 Moore also edited Write Poems Women. Other collections of poetry by Moore include Leaving and Coming Back (1981), Memoir (1988), and Darling: Poems (2001). In 1996 Moore published a biography of her grandmother, the painter Margarett Sargent, entitled White Blackbird: A Life of the Painter Margarett Sargent by her Granddaughter.
