ABSTRACT
Belchamber explores the problems of a gay upper middle-class man in fulfilling the expectations of his class and status, including getting married. Apart from a few short stories Sturgis produced no further writing. He had a long-term relationship with William Haynes-Smith, to whom Belchamber is dedicated.
