Conclusions

This book has aimed to profile the orientation of values underpinning UK conservation policy and practice towards the built environment. At a time of rapid policy change around conservation, as efforts are focused on urban design and regeneration, it has exposed conservation as attempting to ride a number of horses, some more successfully than others, in an attempt to stay the course.
