ABSTRACT

The Province of South Kalimantan (Kalimantan Selatan or Kalsel) is located on the southern tip of the island of Borneo (Kalimantan). The province lies on the northern shores of the Java Sea, at the southern entrance to the Makassar Strait, which lies off its eastern coast. South Kalimantan is predominantly flat swampland, covering 38,744 sq km, making it the smallest Indonesian province on Borneo. In the west South Kalimantan borders the province of Central Kalimantan (Kalimantan Tengah), and in the north East Kalimantan (Kalimantan Timur).
