ABSTRACT

Since the publication of the first edition of Special Educational Needs in the Early Years, there have been some exciting developments in the field, especially in the areas of brain research, emotional competence, early literacy development, and inclusive practices. This second edition incorporates new information and insights in these and other areas while retaining the overall tone and format of the previous work. Connections between knowledge and practice are provided throughout the text and presented in the form of examples, guidelines, case studies, and practical suggestions for teachers and other professionals working with young children with special educational needs.
