ABSTRACT

Traditional psychology is not, in the main, about persons. By making the person the central subject-matter of psychology, construct theory changes the boundaries and the content of the existing science. However, before we consider what psychology has been about (while it was not being about persons), let us attempt a brief description of the person. Let us begin, not by looking at other people to see whether we are going to allow them the dignity of being persons, but by deriving an initial definition from looking at ourselves.
