ABSTRACT
Until recently, there had been little research into rural housing in Britain compared to the much greater attention given to urban housing issues. In 1982 Phillips and Williams were still able to lament the ‘general neglect of rural housing issues’, noting that ‘only belatedly has there been an awareness that the real problems may be those related to social and economic access to housing’ (Phillips and Williams 1982, 3).
