ABSTRACT

The interventions have the character of individual treatment in a group. In different ways each of people had worked with losses and traumas and so had some training in the methods of crisis intervention both in individual treatment and in groups. For about ten years people have both been engaged with various forms of group therapy and have thus had thorough experience of the advantages and limitations of working with therapeutic groups. The losses had to be more than two years back in time. His work of eliciting the healing emotional grief reaction to the loss was done in individual short-term treatment of six to eight sessions spread over some weeks. Ron Ramsay's frame of reference was that of behaviour therapy. He sees the avoided grief as a result of an almost phobic fear of strong and painful emotions.
