ABSTRACT
In more recent times there has been emphasis on what has been quaintly called publish or perish – a highly inaccurate phrase designed to evoke compassion for college teachers who prefer to talk rather than to write. In some ways, this emphasis has led to a travesty on scholarship, but it is my contention that there is a modicum of support for such policies.
