ABSTRACT

On first appearance, it may seem curious that a separate (albeit short) chapter is included in the middle of this book on cross-curricular issues, whilst a number of National Curriculum foundation subjects are denied their ‘own’ chapter through constraints of space. Furthermore, a false impression could well be given that we view cross-curricular matters as a ‘special kind of subject’ or an appendage to be ‘tacked on’ to the delivery of core and foundation subjects.
