ABSTRACT

An adviser or inspector or advisory teacher may have many skills and be extremely knowledgeable about many aspects of education, but that will be of little value if he or she is not also skilled in relating to other people. Advisers and inspectors constantly need to form new relationships and to do so quickly because first impressions may affect the readiness of other people to accept what is said later. They need to be seen as people who have something to offer and people who can be trusted.
