ABSTRACT

One of the fastest growing trends in public education in North America today has been the education foundation. Since the late 1970s more than 350 school districts in the US have established nonprofit, charitable foundations to increase public involvement in schools, to support innovative projects, and most important, to raise money and stabilize school finances. Although innovations in Canadian education often reflect programs previously developed in the US or Britain, Canadians have, in fact, led the way in the establishment of the education foundation.
