Research income

UK industry, commerce and public sector organisations provided £209 million of funding for research grants and contracts in 2001/02 to English HEIs, just under 2 per cent of total income. UK based charities provided a further £504 million, over 4 per cent of total income, to English HEIs in 2001/02.
