ABSTRACT
In the public sector and the publicly financed sector which incorporates HEIs, there has been a continuous drive, for many years, to improve the performance of the organisations in the particular sector. Although performance improvement is not the sole province of the finance function in the organisation, the finance function often has a critical role to play in many (but not all) aspects of performance improvement.
