ABSTRACT
Quality is concerned with doing what we do well. Consequently, improving quality is concerned with doing better what we are doing anyway. The best way to achieve such an aim is to reconsider what the university is about. Any improvement in what the university is doing must originate from a better understanding of what it is supposed to do.
