ABSTRACT

The three problems that this chapter is concerned with are conflict, stress and how we manage time. They can all be destructive, reduce effectiveness and prevent standards being raised. Teachers often feel a sense of panic about the amount of work that has to be done and the lack of time in which to do it. There are also colleagues whose personalities and attitudes are such that they are difficult to work with and often difficult for headteachers to manage. If conflict remains unresolved it can create more stress and the school is in a spiral of debilitating problems which will not help when developing effective relationships or successful working teams.
