ABSTRACT
The aim of the first part of this chapter is to explain the methods chosen and developed for the comparative analysis of the parallel developments and changes of LMPs advocated by the Labour Party and the SPD during the period between 1979/80 and 2001/2.1 We also attempt to account for and justify the methodology chosen for the quantification and classification of party policy statements.
