ABSTRACT
The raison d’être for vocational qualifications is the need for different professions and occupations to establish standards of competence for those employed in them. There are some 370 professional bodies and industrial and trade organisations that set vocational standards and most of these are involved in some aspect of training, examining and/or accrediting.
