ABSTRACT
In your work as an assistant it is very likely that you will work with some children who have particular behaviour difficulties which stem from physiological or medical causes rather than social causes, i.e. they are mainly to do with nature rather than nurture. The majority of difficulties under the heading of emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), stem from causes which are more to do with nurture, environment and upbringing. Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD), Asperger's Syndrome and autism are three labels given to children whose behaviour is sometimes difficult to manage as a result of physiological or medical reasons.
