F Family relationships book
Ideas about families have undergone a major shift during the last 20 years. The concept of a family of two married adults with two children as the norm has given way to a broader view of family including single-parent families, ‘reconstituted’ families, gay and lesbian couples with children, grandparent-led families, and the wider networks of many cultures now living in the UK. So family can include all of these and any group living together in close proximity or with close ties. Many ideas in other sections can be adapted to ‘family’ use. The ones given here are specific to families. They are in two sections:
• Perceptions of family-individual exercises about family relationships. • Families in action-group activities for families to examine the way they
relate to each other in the present.
