ABSTRACT

The preceding three chapters are united by the desire to take interactional processes, especially the relationship between partners, as the main focus of analysis. However, several different paths are taken from this common starting point as the authors answer questions such as: What is the exact nature of the interactions that we want to study? What are the links between the dyadic relationships between partners and the relationship’s social environment? How can we distinguish between the relationship itself and the partners’ involvement in the relationship? How can the interactional process best be conceptualized with regard to AIDS prevention?
