ABSTRACT
Children and parents don’t often get asked what they think about the assessment of their own learning. Patricia Atkinson, a headteacher in Stirling, decided to research the views of pupils and parents in her school and found that pupils appreciated a variety of approaches and techniques, the opportunity to help others and the chance to talk about assessment as part of the process of learning. However, she found that parents didn’t always agree with their children’s views.
