ABSTRACT
Schools and classrooms are complex social environments. They consist of different groups of people interacting with each other in various ways. The individuals who make up these groups all have their own identities, perceptions and values. Teaching and learning will naturally be affected by these features. The most obvious situations where the influence of these factors can be observed is in the pupil-teacher and pupil-pupil interaction and communication patterns.
