ABSTRACT

Rs, the FIVE were originally devised (as three) by Bill Lucas (one of our advisory panel) as essential for lifelong learning, and learning to learn. Alistair Smith, Guy Claxton and the Campaign for Learning have also made contributions to develop these Rs:

Be Ready and prepared to learn, physically and mentally. Be Resourceful to get what you need, to learn best. Learn to Remember, i.e. how you can make your memory work best for you. Be Resilient and keep trying new ways when stuck. Always Reflect on what you have done well, and how you could do even better. Be Reciprocal and expect some give and take with whoever or whatever you are

working with. Be Responsive, or flexible, to the unexpected twists and turns called life.
