ABSTRACT

He was particularly active from the late 1770s until approximately 1800, judging by the large number of squares surviving from that period, both under his name and under others (for example, LONGMAN AND BRODERIP, ca. 1780, with ink signature "Chrir. Ganer, No 47 Broad St. Soho, Londn." behind the NAMEBOARD, and Joseph Dale, c. 1780, with "C.GANER LONDON" stamped on the SOUNDBOARD). After about 1784 Ganer ceased to include the year on the nameboard.
