ABSTRACT
Representations of abortion in the media and politics give little insight into the actual decisions and practices of ordinary people. This chapter introduces firsthand accounts of women and men talking about their lived experience of abortion. The voices of ordinary people, especially those from the rural majority, are rarely heard in the debate in Thailand. Newspaper and academic accounts tend to generalise the experiences of women and men into crude stereotypes, or appeal to Buddhist absolutes.
