ABSTRACT
The Europeanisation of most of the rest of the world will be described in this chapter at some length. In the view of the author, the present number, distribution and composition of the countries of the world cannot be fully appreciated without some knowledge of their origins. Each country bears traces of its history, some at least through several centuries. Sometimes the present attitude or ‘behaviour’ in a given country may be accounted for by some past experience.
